What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures used to provide powerful youth improvements, rejuvenate the skin, reduce the appearance of large pores, clear blemishes, treat hyperpigmentation and improve overall texture and tone. Containing naturally occurring acids derived from fruits, plant, milk and willow trees, they have the ability to treat different types of skin conditions.

Organic acids including Glycolic, Salicylic, Lactic and Pumpkin when applied on the skin, provides a deep exfoliation by removing the top layer of dead skin cells, improving collagen production, reduces inflammation and regulates excessive oil production. By removing dead and damaged skin cells and stimulating renewal of healthy new cells beneath the surface you will reveal a healthier, glowing, more radiant, smoother, less wrinkled looking skin.

What types of peels are there?

At Deluxe Clinic we provide a variety of peels, different types of peels treat different skin concerns and the strength of peels vary. During your consultation our specialist will assess your skin care needs and create the most suitable treatment plan to help you achieve the most desirable results.

How many treatments do I need?

Generally chemical peels are done once every 2 weeks, until desired results are achieved. You can still see minor benefits after a single peel, however the best results are achieved on a course of six treatments. Maintenance peels can then be performed once a month or wait for three month before embarking on another course of six.

Why Do I need to prepare my skin beforehand?

In order to receive better, long lasting results, it is vital to follow our homecare prep recommendation. Usually you will need to use suggested products 2-4 weeks prior to a peel. Preparation process increases hydration levels within the skin, suppresses melanocyte pigment production so that the skin is less likely to hyperpigmented in response to the peel, limits reaction during the treatment and strengthens the skin thus active ingredients can penetrate deeper, more evenly.

What results should I expect?

Upon completion of a course of six chemical peel treatments, overall skin tone and complexion will appear smoother, fresher, more radiant and glowing. You will notice a dramatic reduction in break outs, reduced sebum, blemishes and signs of ageing.

Post treatment aftercare

Following a chemical peel you will notice your skin is more red than usual for two hours afterwards. You may also notice that the skin feels tight and dry and you may experience some very mild flaky skin for a few days. In rare circumstances you will experience crusting of the skin, swelling or reactivation of cold sores. Chemical peels are very safe procedure, however minor irritation of the skin can occur. It is crucial to use a sunscreen SPF30 during the course of your treatment and for four weeks after even on cloudy days to prevent uneven skin tone and excess pigmentation.

  • Do not use any other skin products except those advised by your therapist.
  • Do not pick any spots or peel off any flaky skin when it may not be ready to come off as it can result in scarring or unnecessary redness.
