How to look after your skin in summer – UV protection, exfoliation and moisturizing

skin in summer - UV protection

Our skin’s needs change every season, and summer is the season when we face intense sunshine, heat, high humidity and excessive sweating. If you don’t know how to take proper care of your skin, you can face sunburn, dehydration, rashes, hyperpigmentation spots, even skin infections.

Here’s how you should take care of your skin in the middle of summer!

Sunscreen – mandatory every day

Ultraviolet rays are extremely harmful to your skin, especially when you get too much sun exposure without sunscreen (you can read here how dangerous UV rays are for your skin). Excessive exposure to these rays leads to premature ageing of the skin, wrinkles, sunspots, skin lesions and increased risk of skin cancer. Here are some recommendations to avoid such problems:

  • Use sunscreen every day, even if you plan a short walk in the morning and the sun doesn’t seem so strong, reapply sunscreen regularly if you sweat or get in the water often,
  • Wear protective clothing such as a hat or sunglasses,
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours.

Lips can also be extremely dry in hot weather, creating discomfort. To avoid such a problem, you can apply a lip balm with sun protection factor.

Moderate exfoliation and intense moisturizing

Exfoliating is not so recommended in the warm season because it can stress the skin, but you can opt for moderate exfoliation, which helps remove dead skin cells and keep your skin looking healthy.

Heat and sweat can lead to dehydration of the skin, so make sure you moisturize your skin intensely with lotions or light moisturizers that don’t weigh down the skin. Don’t forget that internal hydration also plays an important role in keeping your skin healthy, so make sure you drink enough water, especially on hot days.

Proper sebum control

People with oily skin face a rather annoying problem in the hot season – the high temperature stimulates sebum production and makes the skin even oilier. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is using cleansers too often because they can dry and irritate the skin. Proper sebum control is often done with toning lotions that regulate sebum secretion and avoid blocking pores.

If you are also facing such a problem and don’t know what to do to have a healthy looking skin in the hot season, we are waiting for you at Deluxe Clinic! A specialist will identify your skin problems and recommend a skin care routine with the right products, as well as facial treatments that help to control sebum secretion much better.

Healthy eating

Nutrition also plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin, and in summer it is essential to have a diet rich in antioxidants and essential nutrients such as vitamins C and E. Include fresh fruit and vegetables, seeds and nuts in your daily diet, as well as fish – at least 1-2 times a week. A balanced diet, along with proper hydration, physical movement and the right skin care products, contributes significantly to the way your skin looks.

If at the end of the summer you ended up with sunburn or pigmentation spots, we’re waiting for you at Deluxe Clinic! We offer various treatments and procedures to help improve the appearance of your skin.
