Light contributes to many different parts of our mental and physical health. It plays a huge role in emotional and biological changes in our skin and body, some of which you might not have realised. It’s widely accepted that SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is more prominent during the darker months of the year because of their lower light levels. It has even been insinuated that brighter, lighter, and sunnier days positively contribute to our mental health and bodily functions, too. These changes have been noted in the scientific community and have been developed into treatments for the world of aesthetics too, so our clients can now benefit from the positive changes light brings about. Without further ado, we’d like to introduce you to LED Light Therapy!
At Deluxe Clinic in Buckinghamshire, we use 3D Skintech’s LED technology to trigger positive changes in your skin.
How does LED Light Therapy work?
Our skin cells are receptive to and able to absorb different wavelengths of light. Some rays, like UVA and UVB, damage the skin, but don’t worry these aren’t implemented in our treatments. We use four different types of visible light from the spectrum: red, blue, yellow, and green. Each of these different lights tackle different elements of the skin.
We use red light to improve the signs of ageing. This triggers collagen and elastin production, the proteins present yet naturally depleting in our skin that contribute to firmness and laxity, to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It also increases circulation in the area, bringing a fresh glow to the skin, and reduces enlarged pores.
We use blue light because it carries powerful anti-bacterial properties, destroying the bacteria that causes acne while reducing spot size. This is safe to be used in conjuction with skincare routines and other in-clinic skin treatments such as chemical peels.
We use yellow light to soothe irritated skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and sensitive skin. It also reduces inflammation.
We use green light to target the cells that produce melanin, which contribute to the development of uneven pigmentation. This means we can even the appearance of your skin tone while also minimising age spots for fresher, brighter skin.
By exposing the skin to low levels of beneficial light energy during LED Light Therapy, we energise the cells’ functions and stimulate internal skin changes. This visible light prompts the cells to regenerate faster and function better, leading to radiant skin and the lessening of your targeted skin condition.
What are the benefits of LED Light Therapy?
This treatment is entirely non-invasive and takes as little as 10 minutes to complete. Because light energy has been linked to positive mental changes too, you may even leave us with a freshly boosted mood. This treatment is completely safe to use in conjunction with others such as chemical peels or microneedling, because it is non-invasive and gentle. The sensation has been likened to lying in the sun with most people finding it incredibly relaxing, and it comes with no downtime. It’s the perfect treatment for those seeking natural facial rejuvenation. While our aesthetic treatments are perfectly safe too, we understand that some prefer facial refreshment that uses their body’s own natural processes.
We at Deluxe Clinic are very excited that we can offer this state-of-the-art treatment. By harnessing the power of natural light and it’s many health benefits, we can successfully rejuvenate the face within a few relaxing minutes.
